We are sorry for this ''dead' period on the blog, but as we don't have any IT freak in our crew, the only person who is taking care of blog (or, to be more correct - who
should take care of blog) is me. And I was really
really busy last few weeks.
We're trying to keep you informed via mails, but few situations from last couple of days put me under the impression that it would be advisable to stress that - at the moment -
this blog IS NOT updated.
So, before taking any actions inspired by info from the blog, please check with us first.

But before you start to search for your name, please let me explain few things:
1.) The principle we used for the selection of participants
First of all, as you will see, ''observers'' are first. As potential founders of new sections, they have been accepted instantly.
Than we took the sections that applied with only 2 members and put them on the participants list because, according to the Statutes of ISHA, every section has the right to participate with at least 2 members.
The rest of the places have been divided among other sections in a way that every section has approximately equal number of participants. That’s why the sections that sent many application forms had been ‘’cut’’ in half.
When we choose the members from the large sections, we tried to give advantage to the officials of those sections and new/young members.

We call it ''first draft'' because you have a chance to intervene. As we don't know the dynamics in every single section, we might favor some members over others.
If you among yourself decide that the member of your section who is on the waiting list should have been put on the participants list instead of somebody else from your section, please let us know. We will try to act for your benefit.
Also, if somebody thinks he/she hasn't been treated right, now is the time to say it.
And of course, if we misspelled your name, please let us know, so we could correct the mistake.
2.) How will the Waiting list work?
Well, as we have 26 people on the Waiting list, we decided to use the same rule we used while dividing places among sections.
Every section has the right to participate on equal terms as the others. So, the waiting list will work like this: if somebody decides to cancel his/hers attendance to the Conference, his/her place will be filled by the person from his/her section who is first on the waiting list.
Order is determined by the application form number. That means that people on the waiting list are put in order by the time/date they sent application form.
If there is nobody from the section of the person who has canceled, place will be filled by the person who has the smallest application number.

We are very sorry we had to put some people on the bottom of the waiting list. In any other circumstances, we would be more than happy to accept application from the students of other sciences.
But this is the Conference of ISHA. And we already have too many ISHA people. So, for now, people who are not part of any ISHA section, or potential observers, are put on the bottom of the waiting list.
But this waiting list is a draft too. You have the right to intervene if you think there is a better way of organizing waiting list this big.
And please – as soon as you find out you can’t attend, let us know! It is very important that we inform other potential participants on time!
Before I conclude this already too long post, I’d just like to say that we are more than honored to get so many applications. I must say, we never thought the interest would be so great! (Ok, except maybe Branimir - he's clairvoyant lately)
We already started to look into possibilities of getting few more ''beds''. I hope we'll manage to ensure at least 10 more places.
So, if you are on the waiting list, it doesn't necessarily mean that you're not accepted. We'll do our best to take more people. It'll just take some time, unfortunately.
I hope this information is adequate for those of you who wanted to book your flights. We won't change this list unless the certain section asks us to. And than it will only concern the members of that particular section.
Oh! And one more thing – the order on the List of participants is not the order we’ll use when we will organize you into workshops. This is only the list for your orientation – especially for the people who need to book their flights soon. You’ll be divided into workshops by your application number, as it was done before. People who applied early have bigger chance to get the workshop they’ve labeled as ‘’1st preference’’.
But the list with workshop will be published only after this List of participants is confirmed.

Because the large number of sections (and observers) applied, I just wanna warn you that the sections that applied with more than 5 people can expect some of their members end up on the waiting list.
Since there's a lot of you waiting to book flight (we received many e-mails considering this problem), we'll probably put the list of the participants and the waiting list online today evening. But it'll be only the list of people who will be accepted, without the list of the workshops.
This way you'll know if you should book the flight or not. Plus, if some of the sections wish to switch somebody who's accepted for somebody on the waiting list, that will be possible.
The final
final list (with workshops) will be published when this list of accepted people is confirmed.
Sorry for complications, but we'd like to give you information as soon as possible, and the situation isn't that simple. So, we're trying to act in your best interest as much as we can.

Dear all!
I must say – we're astonished - almost 100 application forms?!
And many new sections and observers! It seems that after 20 years, ISHA is back on track!
Unfortunately, we have only 70 places available, which mean that some applicants will have to be on the waiting list. That’s why we still haven’t got the final list of participants. Please, be patient for few more days, as we’re trying to make this process as fair as possible.
We
will try to publish the results tomorrow.

Finally the information you have been waiting for!
1.) GENERAL INFORMATION
- As already mentioned, the Conference will be held in Zagreb from 13th to 19th of April.
- Enrollment will start on 6th and last until the 15th of February.
- The application form can be found on the right side of the screen, in the ''Download'' box. It should be sent to conference e-mail (isha.conference.2009@gmail.com). Please be careful not to send it on isha.zg e-mail.
- The expected number of participants is 70.
- Fees are always a problem. As much as we would like to take as little from you as possible, the current (global) economic situation prevents us from sticking to the traditional 70-ish € fee. And the large number of participants makes it even harder. So for now, the official fee we will charge is 90€. BUT! If we manage to cover our expenses with further sponsorships, we will lower it down to 75€. You will be informed about this as soon as we get more information from our possible sponsors. For now, the 90€ will cover accommodation (6 nights in a hostel in the very centre of Zagreb), 3 meals per day and a day trip to the city of Varaždin and castle Trakošćan.
- Abstracts should be sent to the moderators before 15th of March.

The general theme of the Conference, as it was already mentioned before, is Turning points in history. Although this is usually associated with certain pivotal years or events (for example 1789), we will try to avoid this traditional approach and even question it. The main goal of the Conference is to analyze the very nature of what is referred to as a ‘’turning point’’ in history. What are ‘’turning points’’; can it be any single event causing massive changes on a global level, or is it the sum of many different processes that brings about the change? How do we label something a ‘’turning point’’ and on what basis?
Are the chosen workshop topics turning points or not? Why? All of these questions will be welcome in every workshop.
You are not strictly obliged to take the topics suggested in each workshop. They are a form of guidance. But if you do decide to propose your own topic, please do so in consultation with your moderator and let it be noted that focused case studies are preferred to generalized, descriptive papers.
